A young Boholano is taking his voice to the international stage.
Charles Zander Deluna, a Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) student of Holy Name University, has been appointed to the Steering Committee of UNESCO’s Youth Climate Action Network (YoU-CAN), where he will serve as Regional Representative for Asia & the Pacific for 2026–2027.
The appointment gives Deluna the opportunity to represent youth perspectives from across the region while participating in discussions and initiatives focused on climate action, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.
For Bohol, the achievement puts another young local leader on a wider regional platform and highlights the growing participation of Boholano youth in conversations that reach beyond the province and the country.
As Regional Representative, Deluna is expected to contribute to efforts that strengthen youth involvement in addressing climate-related challenges affecting communities across Asia and the Pacific.
The region continues to face concerns such as stronger weather disturbances, rising temperatures, environmental degradation, and the growing impact of climate change on vulnerable communities.
Deluna’s appointment also marks a proud milestone for Holy Name University, demonstrating how students from Bohol can take part in international initiatives while continuing their academic journey.
His role provides an opportunity to connect with other young climate advocates, share ideas, and help bring youth concerns into broader discussions on the environment and sustainability.
For fellow Boholanos, Deluna’s achievement is a reminder that young people from the province can have a voice in regional and global conversations.
From Tagbilaran City to the Asia-Pacific stage, Deluna now carries with him not only the name of his school, but also the pride of Bohol’s growing generation of youth leaders.
