Boholano swimmer Luis Cinches Jurado delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet, winning seven gold medals for Team Tagbilaran City and Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center.
At just 15 years old, Jurado emerged as one of the top athletes in the regional competition. His strong showing in the pool highlighted both speed and endurance. As a result, he is now considered one of the most promising young swimmers from Bohol.
Luis Cinches Jurado Dominates Freestyle Events
Jurado captured gold in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1,500m freestyle events. In addition, he helped power his team to victory in the 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x100m medley relay.
Because of this performance, he became one of the most decorated athletes in the meet. More importantly, his results showed the discipline, hard work, and focus behind his success. According to Jurado, the 100m freestyle was one of his toughest races. Even so, he stayed focused and pushed through against strong competition.
Boholano Swimmer to Watch at Palarong Pambansa 2026
Following his impressive results, Jurado is now one of the young swimmers to watch in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2026 in Agusan del Sur. At the same time, his success at CVIRAA places him among the athletes carrying the hopes of Central Visayas in the national competition.
Jurado also credited his coach, Andrew Dequiña, and his family for helping him reach this milestone. He shared that the medals represent early mornings, difficult training sessions, and many sacrifices behind the scenes.
Ultimately, Jurado hopes to one day represent the Philippines in international swimming competitions. For now, his seven-gold finish stands as a proud achievement for Tagbilaran City, Bohol, and the province’s rising young athletes.
