BIT International College-Tagbilaran, Inc. has announced the closure of its Bachelor of Science in Maritime Engineering (BSMarE) program starting Academic Year 2026–2027.
According to the notice, the institution has voluntarily decided to discontinue the program. As a result, CHED and MARINA will no longer issue a Special Order (SO) for students enrolled under the affected academic year.
Transfer Support for Affected Students
Following the closure, the school must help affected students transfer to other maritime institutions. This step will protect the continuity of their education and support their academic welfare during the transition.
Students, parents, and other concerned individuals should contact the appropriate school office for guidance and updates on transfer arrangements and related concerns.
A Major Change in BIT-IC’s Academic Offerings
The closure of the BS Maritime Engineering program marks a significant change in the academic offerings of BIT International College-Tagbilaran, especially since maritime education has long been one of the important fields of study in the region.
Meanwhile, the advisory also stated that if the institution intends to reopen the program in the future, it must fully comply with the latest Policy Standards and Guidelines (PSGs) set by MARINA and CHED.
For now, the school must prioritize proper support for affected students and help them transition smoothly to other institutions where they can continue their maritime education.
